Botanicare Grow Trays are available in several different sizes and come in both black or white colors, and inside dimensions (ID) or outside dimensions (OD). You can see all of the sizes/colors from the dropdown menu above. Below we will go into more detail about the difference between grow trays listed as "Inside Dimensions" vs "Outside Dimensions" so you can make the most informed decision possible when choosing a grow tray for your hydroponic system.
Botanicare has developed two different types/sizes of these grow trays to cater to the needs of all growers in tight spaces. OD trays are listed by their "outside dimensions" and ID trays listed by their "inside dimensions".
Whats The Difference?
The difference between Outside Dimensions and Inside Dimensions is where the measurements of the tray are taken. For example, we have two 3' x 3' grow trays above, a 3x3 OD tray and a 3x3 ID tray. The outside dimensions tray has its length and width of 3 feet extend all the way to the edge of the outer lip. The inside dimensions tray has its length and width of 3 feet reach to the inside wall of the tray. So OD trays are going to be a little bit smaller than ID trays.

Outside Dimensions
For these compact spots that require precisely measured components, Botanicare has developed new Outside Dimension Trays. These trays sit in the precise footprint that their name suggests and fit easily into all growing tents on the market. The Botanicare OD trays are made with black ABS plastic and are formed with an easy to clean diagonal drainage grid to direct water towards drainage fittings. Superior rigidity over other OD trays on the market, these new OD trays are an economical purchase for space minded consumers.
Inside Dimensions
Botanicare’s redesigned black premium ID trays offer professional hydroponic gardens with superior quality and performance. The ID trays now include a 6.5" - 7.35” deep sidewall* that accommodates larger root masses, taller pots, and deeper saturation. Rounded, wider, drainage channels simplify cleaning while newly engineered corner gussets allow for greater support. The ID trays maintain Botanicare’s standard true, inside dimensions for maximum growth space. Made from recycled and recyclable ABS plastic. *measurement from the top of drainage grid to top of the tray.
